Aviron has raised $18.5 million to fund the expansion of its entertainment portfolio

Aviron reported that it had raised $18.5 million in its most recent fundraising round. It intends to expand the entertainment options available to customers of its range of intelligent rowing machines, including Netflix, to enhance the gamified experience.

Stripes led the deal, including Global Founders Capital, Formic Ventures, and Mark Mastrov, creator of 24-Hour Fitness. Aviron intends to utilize the funds to grow its personnel and content catalog. Along with the money, Aviron hired Amy Curry-Staschke as chief operating officer.

Aviron’s linked competent rowers have integrated touchscreens with various games designed to be played while training. Aviron’s creator and CEO, Andy Hoang, stated in a statement, “From the start, they designed the rower to integrate seamlessly with an ever-growing collection of material” (video games, streaming entertainment, live races, virtual destinations, etc).

Their innovative blending of video game features and the camaraderie of competition significantly enhances the training experience. Let’s face it; they’ll exercise longer and harder if it’s enjoyable. Aviron said it has a slew of new entertainment material and feature releases in the pipeline, including prominent streaming entertainment platforms like Netflix this quarter.

Most significantly, they have a slew of new content and feature releases planned for this quarter, including collaborations with big streaming entertainment platforms like Netflix.
