Google Bumps Up Security In Its Apps

Google Adds New Security Features

Google recently introduced account security alerts within its apps. In an effort to boost security in our devices, Google adds several new features. These include revamped security alerts, improved control over locations, and anonymity for the assistant.

These new functionalities will be added to all Google apps. It will soon roll out to all the supported devices. The warnings in the updated security alerts are ‘highly visible’. And it will be resistant to deceptions. The feature will become available in a few weeks. It will reach most users by early 2021.

Google’s new safety features

Similar to iOS 14, Android users will also be able to hide their locations. The new update will add an option for manually editing one’s ‘Location History’ within the ‘Timeline.’ It will enav]ble users to add or edit places they’ve visited. This would also improve location accuracy for specific tasks.

We’re all fond of the Google Assistant. Google adds a Guest Mode feature to it. This will enable us to keep our commands separate from our Google account. So no need to worry about that embarrassing question or searching for something personal.

Although, it will keep our secrets safe even if the device or account is jeopardized. But one of the drawbacks is that personalized feedback won’t be available on Assistant. These security updates will enable us to quickly respond and limit any data being leaked to hackers.

These updates will be implemented to individual Google accounts. Google apps will directly alert users without bothering them to open a specific app. Also, these alerts are “resistant to spoofing” according to Google. These announcements are a part of its contribution to the National Cybersecurity Awareness Month.
