In Constantin’s case, at his previous tuxedo rental startup Menguin (ultimately acquired by Generation Tux), where he said he had to market a product with a six-to-nine month sales cycle, as customers were usually weighing different options for their weddings.

Email marketing, Constantin said, would result in “worse and worse” open rates over time. So one day, he decided to just try texting everyone who signed up, introducing himself as “your stylist here at Menguin.” 

Voxie Raises $6.7 Million

Voxie — which is announcing that it has raised $6.7 million in Series A funding — offers tools to help businesses automate and manage that process. As compared to other text marketing tools, messages sent via Voxie feel like a real, personalized conversation — even though 80% to 90% are automated, with the rest of the messages written by people. Voxie allows businesses to send messages from a normal 10-digit phone number.

VoxWeb is a special-purpose messaging and social networking application developed around speaking pictures or “boxes”. In addition to mainstream online communication usage, users can augment their photos by adding a voice caption of up to 11 seconds instead of a text caption. The application was designed by IIT Kanpur graduate Yash Mishra and was rolled out on iOS and Android operating systems. 

Voxie is a social app for movies and shows, that lets you track, review, journal, and talk about movies and shows you’ve watched so that your friends can have great recommendations. The first capital infusion took place in November 2015 when a group of individual investors invested $350,000 in the company
