- Apple released iOS 14.3 and iPad 14.3.
- Added ProRAW, App Clip Codes, Home Screen Shortcuts.
- Fitness+ subscription service will be available too.
Apple released iOS 14 in July during the World Wide Developers Conference (WWDC). One of the new features is App Clip Codes that was announced alongside iOS 14.
App Clips
If you follow the past couple of Google events App Clips is similar to Google’s Android Slice. Apple released App Clips back in September with iOS 14. These are small fragments of apps designed to be used by the user for a brief interaction with the app.
App Clips works differently than the App store as it can be discovered not in a digital store but in real-world physical NFC tags or QR codes. It is an extremely helpful feature for people who do not need an entire app, just for single-time use. For example: Paying for Train Tickets on a Holiday, Paying Toll Booths, etc.
You can access the App Clip Codes via the Code Scanner feature in Control Center. Code Scanner was introduced back in iOS 13 with disabled as default. So you can enable it from Settings – Control Center and toggling Code Scanner On.
Apple ProRAW
Apple ProRAW is a file format from Apple exclusively available for iPhone 12 Pro and Pro Max. ProRAW saves both untouched RAW and Apple’s software-based ‘Intelligent Edits’ to the image taken.
The Benefits of having both is Professional could tweak the RAW image to their linking but also could sample Apple’s AI-based image improvements such as Deep Fusion or Smart HDR for better results for users as well as improving the AI’s algorithms.
ProRAW photos will be larger in size, upwards of 15MB, and would not appear as impressive without some alterations from the person that knows what he or she is doing.
Home Screen Shortcut.
Probably one of the favourites of the users, the ability to create and Start a Shortcut from the Home screen of the iPhone. App launching shortcut is not the only benefit, Shortcuts that runs in the background can be launched directly from the home screen.
