With so many lifestyle changes today, physical fitness has become an important part of life. However, in this busy lifestyle, it is quite difficult to take out some time for yourself to rejuvenate. But you need not to worry about it. Google takes care of its users as always.
The Google Fit app is all set to do that for you. Google Fit is a health-tracking platform developed by Google. It works on the Android operating system, Wear OS and Apple Inc.s’ IOS. It is a single set of APIs that blends data from multiple apps and devices.
The app uses sensors in a user’s activity tracker or mobile devices. It records physical fitness activities such as walking, cycling, etc. This is measured against the user’s fitness goals to provide a comprehensive view of their fitness. The app was released on 28th October 2014.
What’s additional on Google Fit?
In April a step-focused redesign was announced. Following this Google Fit is now getting a richer homepage that can display more information. Supplementary to this additional sleep data and a sharing feature is also introduced.
Top of the Google Fit home screen continues to be the same. It consists of rings for Heart Points and steps. It is followed by calorie burn, Move minutes, miles/kilometers. And now, it will add hours slept-more on that below. With this revamp a feed of more health information follows.
Over the course of the week, stats are shown. It includes daily goals, Heart Points, steps, and blood pressure. Weight gets a month to month view. In addition to this, your last workout is visualized on a map. This means that you’re more likely to pick up information from the Home tab.
Previously in order to check out the information you need to dive into the individual metric. The other big part of this update is sleep information. Google Fit shows more sleep information now. Activities include -how long you were actually ‘asleep’ versus just ‘in bed’.
What’s More?
It will also include efficiency and sleep stages. Additionally, you can also set a bedtime schedule, with the homepage featuring a “goals” card. Data is dependent on what device or app you connect to Fit, with the company touting the Fossil Gen 5E.
Also, Qura Ring, Withings sleep tracking mat, and the Sleep as Android app. Google is planning to expand support over time. Next, the app is offering a sharing feature. Recorded activities will feature a share button in the top-right corner that opens a quick editor.
Branding appears at the top with users able to choose a map or photo background. At the bottom, stats are listed with color customization options. Google believes this is useful for sharing on social media and privately in messages.
All three features will be seen in the coming days. They will be joined by new Wear OS Tiles.
