The mobile division of HTC is a shadow of its former self, and its disappointing U20 5G did not really help its turnaround chances. The business is still launching phones in 2021, however, and you might even like what it has to sell. Android Police reports that the Desire 21 Pro 5G, a mid-range device packing a reasonable amount of power for the money, has been launched by HTC. This phone has just become official, offering 5G, a refresh rate of 90 Hz, an impressive array of cameras, and a sizable 5,000 mAh battery.
Display and Processor:
For a few years now, HTC has been struggling, but its new offering, the Desire 21 Pro 5G, looks pretty promising. The device is equipped with a 6.7-inch 2400×1080 IPS display with a 90Hz refresh rate. This smooth scrolling higher refresh rate display is the first for HTC. Powering the Desire 21 Pro 5G is a Snapdragon 690 System on Chip (SoC). It is a powerful 5G-enabled processor paired with 8GB of RAM. It comes with 128GB of internal storage and could be expanded by adding a microSD card.
Camera:
The device will also sport a four-camera module at the back and one upfront. The rear camera module features a 48MP main sensor with an 8MP ultrawide, 2MP macro, and 2MP depth sensor. The front camera is a 16MP hole-punch shooter for selfies and video calling.
Battery and Security:
Though being launched in the mid-tier segment, HTC provides a giant 5,000 mAh battery. Although the battery life depends on usage, it can be expected to deliver a full-day backup. It does support 18W fast charging with Qualcomm Quick Charge 4.0. The device offers biometric security with both fingerprint sensors built into the power button and face unlock. It is an NFC enabled device with dual-sim capabilities. However, the software isn’t HTC’s strong suit and the phone ships with Android 10.
Cost and Availability:
For 11,990 Taiwan dollars, or approximately $428, HTC sells the Desire 21 Pro 5G in its homeland. It does not give as much raw value as a product like the Pixel 4a or OnePlus Nord. But, it might have an advantage because of the mix of features. The tough part will clearly be to acquire one. HTC didn’t mention whether it would offer the latest Desire outside Taiwan. Now, since the firm has relatively few resources, it’d be difficult to count on its availability.
