- Motorola announced the devices list updating to Android 11.
- 22 devices were confirmed to receive updates in a blog post.
- 21 Motorola and 1 Lenovo Device on the list.
Motorola was once the leader in providing software updates. Also, compared to Google’s then-famous Nexus, Motorola phones even pushed updates faster than their software provider Google and Nexus would shamefully stand second.
Motorola Updates need Help!
Computer World has typically found only poor news for Motorola in its annual review of Android 10 updates in 2019.
- Google — A (100%)
- OnePlus — B (85%)
- Samsung — D+ (68%)
- LG — F (43%)
- HTC — F (0%)
- Motorola — F (0%)
As you’d expect from the organization doing these changes in the first place, Google’s Pixel devices took the top A class with 100 percent. OnePlus also saw an enhancement on the report card of Android 10 relative to Pies with a B (85 percent) versus a C (74 percent ).
For 129 days, LG managed a 43 percent rating to promote an Android 10 update to its LG G8, but it did not support the LG G7 at all. Even looking at the company’s V-series, there is no better outcome. HTC and Motorola both managed zeros for not pushing out any updates to Android 10, rounding things out.
This is not a List that any company would be on the bottom of the table. And even worse being last to a company that has not released a single phone in recent time is absolute blasphemy.
Company Gears Up to Android 11
Motorola revealed its plans to upgrade 22 separate Motorola devices and a single Lenovo device to Android 11 in a blog post today.
This was declared by Motorola in late December, almost four months after the update was first released on Pixel phones at the beginning of September.
Secondly, none of these updates are now rolling out, only “in the coming months” and even then, “pending partner support.”
It’s awesome to see Motorola upgrading so many phones, but it’s also pretty sad if you take the view that most of these models won’t be updated until the first Android 12 Preview drops in the spring.
