Compose.ai is an automated writing tool built on the new text generation tech known as GPT-3. Michael Shuffett, the developer of Compose, typed ‘Yes 45m’, and the app generated a reply with a link to schedule a 45-minute call. It is a time-saving, automated replying feature based on artificial intelligence.
Generative Pre-trained Transformer 3 or GPT-3 is an autoregressive model that utilizes deep learning to form a human-like text. OpenAI revealed the same back in June. It has already amazed many with its ability to create memes, code, self-help blog posts, and even a Hemingway-style Harry Potter fan-fiction. But as its algorithm learns by scanning the internet, it can also generate nonsense and hate speech.
Shuffett said, “Billions of people write emails, and this space has not witnessed much innovation for years.” Even Google’s Gmail, although capable of replying in short like “Thanks so much!” is still unable to form full messages.

Early testers also launched another app named Snazzy.ai. It was able to generate verbiage for web pages and Google ads. These will be based on basic information regarding a campaign or brand. Snazzy co-founder Chris Frantz, said ‘the service reduces the drudgery of creating an initial splurge of ideas.’ For any fresh campaign, the monotonous job of writing a copy will be offloaded. This way writers can start editing their articles directly.
Under another test of GPT-3 against human-written material, the AI version gained more readers as compared to the human-authored copy. VWO measures the performance of the marketing content of companies. Paras Chopra, the VWO founder, believes that the market will gradually lean on auto-generated material. This is because it will speed up experimentations and will have higher chances of impacting business metrics.
About OpenAI
OpenAI, an artificial intelligence research institute, developed the text-generator software. It was a non-profit venture by Elon Musk. Launched in 2015, it aimed to ensure that future superhuman AI was a genial tool. But, in 2018, Elon Musk departed from the lab, and the latter became a for-profit company. It also launched a cloud service that some companies have already started using to improve search and provide feedback on math problems.
OpenAI received a $1 billion investment from Microsoft. This service is based on a machine-learning technique that was designed for computers. Machine Learning algorithms analyze the texts made available to them. The software then generated answers to factual questions and summarized documents.
