Slack redesigned their Android & iOS Apps, and they are now available on the app store. A Slack redesign was imminent after the beta versions were floating for about a month. Slack also made the new changes official by going live on Android and iOS versions of its app.
The new Slack redesign has a new navigation bar at the bottom of the app, which provides much easier access to the more important sections of the app. Users gain access to mentions you have and even the direct messages, or DMs.
This new navigation bar eliminates the need for tapping or swiping on icons and menus. This has resulted in an app that is almost the same on both iOS and Android platforms – resulting in next to no differences with app experience for Android and iOS users.
A compose button has also been added that floats at the screen’s bottom, allowing easy composition of new Messages. In short, ease in composing and navigation have been the main changes in the latest Slack redesign.
The company had been testing these features for quite a while now, by launching a new Android version via its Beta channel on Google Play Store. Simultaneously, Slack did so on the iOS too, with its beta channel with the help of TestFlight.
Other than the most visible features, this Slack redesign also brings with it a bundle of bug fixes which makes operating Slack much more fun, and takes a huge leap to make it easy for use.
“Today we begin rolling out a new design for Slack’s iPhone and Android apps. This update introduces improved navigation, quick access to set your availability and status on the go, an easy-to-reach compose experience, and shortcuts to your apps and workflows.” mention Preet Mangat, Johnny Rodgers, and Cory Bujnowicz on 13 May 2020 in a Press Release.
After all, who says shortcuts to getting things done was ever a bad option?
