What is Google Glasses-Meet Connection?
Google Glass, the company’s heads-up AR display, is getting a new app. The new release is aimed at enterprises running Google Workspace and trialing the second generation of Glass. Although, it isn’t available to the general public.
In a blog post, Google has announced a closed beta of Google Meet for Glass. This is being made available by invite only. The combination brings 2020 video conferencing to teams using Google Glass Enterprise Edition 2. The team says that combining the two products will allow teams to video conference whilst keeping free hands for tasks. Plus, of course, in true 2020 style, it increases the possibilities for socially distanced working.
Blog post confirms the first look of Google Meet for the Google smart-glass, and it is about to receive its new app. Right now it is undergoing trial for the second generation of glass. This will enable video conferencing in teams via the Google Glass Enterprise Edition 2.
The development was aimed at, mainly keeping in mind that the team can easily conduct an easy conferencing, keeping their hands free for other simultaneous tasks.
And with social distancing, this will serve the purpose of distance and hygiene.
This device will be beneficial for those whose forte is multitasking. Those such as the field service technicians or real-estate agents as well as by offering virtual tours can benefit.
This also points to the fact that this is quite an easy access for anyone. Users need a stable internet connection and does not demand much tech-savviness from anyone.
Google’s View on Project
Speaking on this, Google asserts “Glass has been helping on-site essential workers for years and now with Meet for Glass, we’re excited to continue supporting companies navigate new challenges with remote work as they unfold across industries.”
It seems that while the rage of a pandemic might continue for some time, sectors need to resume their work already. But it is important that people proceed with as much cautiousness as required.
Google Meet’s new development is the right approach. It keeps in mind the future health concerns of its users. Also, we can assume that it might be a great success as well.
The pairing of a failed consumer product turned enterprise and an enterprise product that – thanks to the pandemic – has become popular with consumers, has a certain irony about it. But with Google’s current ambitions for Glass, it’s a logical one that has a lot of potential.
