Why choose Turo app?
The reviews on this site are mixed, ranging from those who love it to others who have had unpleasant experiences. On the other hand, the concept appears to be appealing for people who want to rent out a spare car that would otherwise be languishing in the garage.
Turo allows you to register your vehicle, specify when it is available, and set a rental fee. Turo can also recommend a rental charge based on the dynamic pricing system of the site. You can even limit how far a driver can travel without being penalized.

Frequently Asked Questions
- What information is required to rent a car on Turo?
To book a car on Turo, you must first create an account, be at least 18 years old in the United States, 21 years old in the United Kingdom, and 23 years old in Canada, have a valid driver’s license, and be permitted to drive on Turo. When you schedule your first trip, you will go through a fast approval procedure that will require you to input your driver’s license and some other information. Most of the time, you’ll get accepted right immediately and be prepared for any future road trip, job trip, or family vacation.
- Is it mandatory for me to obtain my insurance?
No, you do not need personal insurance to book a car with Turo. Except in limited circumstances for trips booked in Maryland, whatever personal insurance you may have that covers damage to the host’s vehicle will take precedence over your Turo protection plan in the US.
In the United States, you’ll have the choice of picking one of three levels of protection – Premier, Standard, or Minimum – to get the right degree of insurance for you. Turo receives third-party car liability insurance through a policy issued by Liberty Surplus Insurance Corporation, a member of the Liberty Mutual Group, with each plan – $750,000 for the Premier plan.
In Canada, you can choose between three protection plans: Premier, Standard, or Minimum. Liability insurance purchased from Intact Financial Corporation in Alberta, Nova Scotia, Ontario, and Quebec, and Insurance Corporation of British Columbia (ICBC) in British Columbia, is included with each plan, with up to $2,000,000 for coverage all methods.
In the United Kingdom, you will also be able to choose between Premier, Standard, and Minimum protection plans. Each plan has different financial responsibility limits for physical damage. Still, all three provide up to £20,000,000 coverage via a third-party automotive liability insurance policy issued by Allianz Insurance plc via Turo broker Aon UK Ltd.
- Can others drive the car I reserved?
Yes, many visitors are permitted to drive the automobile you reserve on Turo, as long as they are all authorized to do so. The primary driver (the person who reserved the car) may add additional drivers without penalty or another fee. Turo hosts cannot add drivers for you; only the primary driver can do so. We recommend that you request additional drivers before your travel begins, but clients in the United States and Canada can request a driver while their trip is underway.
Have your new driver register a Turo account and be approved to drive before requesting their addition to speed up the process. For the car you’ve reserved, all drivers must have a valid driver’s license and be of legal driving age. You can request to add drivers using the “Trips” section in the Turo app without incurring any additional driver fees or expenditures.
- What is the cancellation policy at Turo?
You have up to 24 hours before the start of your trip to cancel and receive a full refund. If you arrange a trip with less than 24 hours’ notice, you have to cancel free of charge one hour after booking. If you cancel after the free cancellation time has elapsed, you will be charged a small cancellation fee.
If a host cancels, you will be notified as soon as possible so that you can book another car, or we can assist you in locating one. Your refund can be kept temporarily to expedite rebooking, or it can be deposited into your bank account – the choice is yours.
