- Amazon brings music videos to its music streaming platform
- The app will offer music video playlists
- Amazon recently added the X-Ray feature to the music streaming service
After adding the X-Ray feature to its music streaming service, Amazon is now adding a large collection of music videos. Amazon’s video service, unlike its competitors like YouTube Music, is limited to its paid subscribers only. Android Police reported that listeners on the ad-sponsored free tier will not be able to access these music videos as well.
The music streaming market has grown tremendously over the past few years. To differentiate its offering, the e-commerce giant has been pouring in resources constantly. It is directly competing with the likes of Spotify, Apple Music, YouTube Music, etc. Now, the Amazon Music Unlimited Service will feature music videos within the app.
The app will also offer music video playlists to watch through. Users can switch between music video or just the audio version of the song currently being played. To do this, just tap on the toggle which is similar to that on the YouTube Music app.
X-Ray
Last month, Amazon added its X-Ray feature to its music streaming service. It was already available on Prime Video, where it shows information about actors and trivial facts about the scene. The X-Ray feature on Amazon Music will show extra pieces of trivia about the music being played. It brings extra ‘fun facts’ for popular songs in the US and UK.
The X-Ray feature was introduced back in 2015 with the Fire TV and Fire TV Stick. It shoes interactive popovers displaying cast and crew details during movies and TV shows. It uses IMDB’s data to bring this additional information about the cast and crew.
About Amazon Music
Amazon entered the music streaming industry back in 2014. At the time of its launch, Prime Music offered its Prime customers access to over 1 million songs. It featured hundreds of curated playlists. The move was marked by pooling up of all Amazon’s music-related products. These include the Amazon MP3 store and Cloud Player.
Pricing
Amazon Music Unlimited is priced at a monthly cost of $8 for Prime Members. The Standard subscription costs $10 a month for non-Prime members.
