When Sony announced PS5 in November this year, the console was out of stock at major retailers such as Amazon, Walmart, etc. The Gaming console was not available at Sony’s own official online PlayStation store.
PlayStation 5 is so popular that on September 16, Sony stated that pre-orders for the console were to open at various retailers on the next day. However, several retailers in the United States and the United Kingdom launched pre-order on the evening of September 16.
Even with such confusion and conflict of the statement, many store’s inventories were quickly sold out. Although, Sony apologized for the incident and promised to increase more pre-order deliveries over the coming days and will replenish stocks through the end of the year.

Walmart giving Fair Chance
Recently, Walmart confirmed that they had successfully stopped boys from snatching new PS5 units before humans can buy them. The incident was bought to Walmart’s attention after the pre-Thanksgiving sale.
“Bot scripts are constantly evolving and being re-written, so we’ve built, deployed, and are continuously updating our own bot-detection tools, allowing us to successfully block the vast majority of bots we see,” Jerry Geisler, Walmart’s chief information security officer.
