- Clubhouse is a new popular social audio startup that welcomes promising newcomers and creators to contribute and earn.
- It has initial plans to help 20 creators to get their shows off the ground.
Introduction:
Clubhouse is a popular social audio startup among other newcomers. It has announced that it is going to launch an accelerator program. During a weekly Townhall event on Sunday, the company provided detailed plans for its inaugural accelerator called “Clubhouse Creator First”. It initially plans to help about 20 creators to get their shows off the ground.
Clubhouse said that to do this, it will provide the creators with anything they need to begin with. It could be a piece of equipment like an iPhone, AirPods, or iRig. It could also include promotional support or help with booking the gas or even a babysitter. Most importantly, Clubhouse promises the participant creators some sort of income for their work.
What does the CEO of Clubhouse have to say?
In the town hall event, CEO Paul Davison explains that the basic part of the accelerator experience will be to help creators get paid for their contribution. To make this happen, Clubhouse will match the creator with a sponsor of the brand, he says. According to him something the company believes will be made possible because the brands are already contacting Clubhouse looking for opportunities for some kind of involvement.
If in a certain situation, Clubhouse cannot find a brand sponsor for a show, then the company guarantees a basic income of $5000 every month during the three months the creator participates in the program. Presumably, this can help people transition from other projects to heavily focus on their Clubhouse show instead. In the meantime, it would also give them the time to grow their audience, and form the brand relationships that would make their shows survive for the long term.
How Clubhouse will help the creators?
Clubhouse will also play a hands-on role to develop the shows from the accelerator’s participants. Already, Andreessen Horowitz-backed social audio app has helped with the success of one of its popular tech programs, The Good Time Show. It is co-hosted by the VC firm’s latest general partner, Sriram Krishnan.
The program regularly features guests and co-hosts that either invest with the firm or are connected to it somehow. They have also been responsible for some of the startup’s biggest celebrity guests that include Elon Musk and Mark Zuckerberg.
Events in the town hall:
Davison notes during the town hall event that the company will work on reaching the creators with the guests for their shows. He also states that the start of will provide direct feedback to the participants including the opinion on what works and what doesn’t. It will also include “deep-dive concept development”.
As the creator’s shows are ready to take off, Clubhouse will connect them with creative services who can design the promotional materials for marketing the shows outside the social app. This includes giving the creators the invites that they can distribute to the listeners which can help them build up the initial audience. It goes without saying that the Clubhouse has been doing some of this kind of work behind the scenes. But the accelerator program has formalized the arrangement and given dedicated resources to promising creators.
Starting today the company E has allowed interested creators to apply for the Clubhouse Creator First Program. The final date of application is March 31, 2021.
