Google is landing with yet another feature in the coming weeks. The company has been doing more than enough this year. Recently a slew of updates were made to its search engine abilities. In addition to several other enhancements were also made.
Once again the company is set to introduce its audience with a fresh plan. Google One’s 2TB+ plan is adding Android VPN. However, at present, the company is going to release it for Android only. Soon this feature is also going to roll out in iOS, Mac, and Windows.
What is Google One?
Google One is a subscription service developed by Google. It offers expanded cloud storage and is particularly meant for the consumer market. Every Google Accounts initiates with 15 gigabytes of free storage. This storage is shared across Google Drive, Gmail, and Google Photos.
The paid plan offers cloud storage starting at 100GB, up to a maximum of 30 terabytes. Google One replaced the paid services of Drive. This was done to emphasize the fact that the program is used by multiple Google Services. One feature was launched in the year 2018.
Google’s Storage Subscription
In July 2020, Google’s storage subscription service made backup services free for Android. On the other hand, it announced plans for iOS. This time the company is including a VPN on higher storage tiers. VPN is said to provide an “extra layer of online protection”.
Currently, the plans are only announced for Android. The company is already focusing on building advanced security on all its products. VPN extends that security to encrypt all of your phone’s online traffic. Google One starts with a 100 GB plan at $1.99/month. The 200 GB plan starts at $2.99.
However, VPN requires you to jump to 2TB at $9.99 monthly or $99.99 annually. Along with this, the other benefits include better support, Pro sessions, and Gold Status on Play Point. Supplementary to this you’ll also get 10% back on the Google Store. Plus this is also available on the 10,20, and 30TB plans.
Further, if you share your 2TB Google One plan with family members, they can have the service too. The VPN is first rolling out on Android in the coming weeks in the US. It can be enabled/disabled from the mobile app.
It is coming to more countries and to iOS, Windows, and Mac in the coming months.
