We reached out to Venkatesh C.R., who is the Founder of app development company Dot Com Infoway for a short interview to understand what makes them leading app developers from the UK.
Tell us something about your company
Dot Com Infoway is an IT company known for software development, particularly mobile app development, digital marketing, and web development. We’ve been rendering our services for more than two decades and have worked with various major industries, like e-commerce, gaming, healthcare, hospitality, transportation & navigation, property management, etc. in that span of time. To me personally, it’s a brainchild that arose out of my deep love for technology and innovation.
What are your company’s specializations?
We are known mainly for our mobile app development and digital marketing, so those are the things that come to mind when you mention specialization. Obviously, both are relatively broad fields in and of themselves, though. In tech, particularly in the IT field, you want to be as adaptable as possible. This is why we also offer consulting services in business and various disciplines and technologies in the IT field.
Who are some of your major customers?
If we’re talking about globally recognized brands, we’ve worked with Marriott, Motorola, Sony, Amazon, and Buy Auto Parts. That being said, we treat and regard every customer we work with equally and make them feel the inimitable DCI experience.
Top 5 apps that you have developed? (With PlayStore/App Store Links)
DMK IT WING, MAGZTER, ZINGALLO, SMART SPOT, ASJB
What is your average cost of mobile app development?
In India, it’s generally cheaper than in the West. If the minimum cost in the states is $60,000, that can be lowered to as much as $15,000. A mobile commerce app can even be developed for as low as $10,000. The category that the app belongs to, features, and platform of development will always be the X factors that dictate the overall cost. With them considered, I can safely say that the average is around $22,500.
Provide a list of your 5 domain specializations.
- Logistics
- ECommerce
- Retail
- Healthcare
- Education
What cross-platform technologies and tools do you use?
We use React Native, Flutter, and Xamarin.
Do you develop mobile apps with native or hybrid?
We develop in both. We offer native iOS and native Android development, along with dedicated support for web and hybrid development.
What is the app development process that you follow?
We offer two models: the Waterfall model and the Agile model. The Waterfall model is focused on sequential, phase-by-phase development. These phases are design, coding/construction, and test/maintenance. It works because it’s systematic and makes sure that we can meet deadlines and all requirements are met.
The Agile model, on the other hand, is more of an expedited, lightweight approach to app development. We deliver working software as quickly and effectively as possible that the client can then review. From there, we listen to their feedback and apply the changes to the requirements that they need to make.
What is the latest technology/product you are working on?
We are currently developing Minnal, an NFT marketplace we developed focusing on the Indian Entertainment Industry.
Are you looking for customers in a particular industry or domain? Please mention just one industry.
Given our company history and how we expanded, we’re not really inclined to look for specific customers in a particular industry. Mobile app development alone already covers plenty of big industries. Perhaps, the most common denominator in the customers we’re looking for is that they’re often the ones who need help overcoming a particularly difficult hurdle or simply want to improve their business processes.
Where do you see your company in the next 5 years?
By then, the IT field would have been significantly transformed. We only need to look at the trends to see this. With skill (and luck), I see DCI as still one of the leading IT companies worldwide 5 years from now. We will have reached a milestone of maturity (for an IT company) by then and, likewise, I’m seeing today’s promising technologies as becoming more advanced.
One way or another, it will change the way we develop our apps, and I’m excited by that mere thought. Having been in the industry for a long time, we hope to continue doing what we love.
