Nokia 3310 was a phone that had the reputation of surviving even the most gruesome falls. And it seems like we have found a successor for the throne. The successor does not come from Nokia, Finland, or even the European Continent. It comes from Cupertino, California. Apple’s iPhone 6s survived a fall from a flying Airplane.
What happened?
A Brazilian Documentary Filmmaker Ernesto Galiotto was flying over a beach located in Cabo Frio, Rio de Janeiro.
Galiotto was filming the scenery for his project while holding the phone with just one hand through a window of a small plane. A wind gust blew the phone away from his hand and sent the phone flying down towards the ground.
The Filmmaker was apprehensive that his phone was gone for good, Although that was not the case.
With an extreme amount of luck, the device survived. Galiotto was able to find the device by Apple Find My app and was surprised to find his iPhone 6s functional. The app Pinpointed the location he then took off to find his smartphone in the middle of the beach.
When he reached the spot he was surprised as the device was still in one piece and had almost none damage on the chassis.
While it did have a few minor scratches, the phone was mostly unaffected by them and was only covered with a basic screen protector and a regular silicon case. Interestingly, Galiotto was recording while the phone fell out, and recorded the entire horribly turbulent fall from accidentally slip to hitting the ground.
“Something that, if you tell someone, they won’t believe,” said Galiotto.
