OnePlus announced the launch of its Oxygen OS 11. It is a stable version of the OS. Oxygen OS 11 is built on top of the Android 11 and is now available in India. OnePlus had released its developer version back in August. In September, it was released as an open beta version.
The Android 11 update brings tons of new features to the smartphone. Paired with the Oxygen OS, it further enhances the user experience. This update introduces a new design, new themes for Zen mode, always-on ambient display, and a custom time range feature for the Dark Mode. It also has new security updates and fixes some other bugs. Also, the release of the new Oxygen OS prior to the OnePlus 8T launch suggests they will have Android 11 out of the box.
New features in the changelog
- System: Redesigned UI experience with improvement in optimizations. New weather UI, now supporting dynamic weather switches between Sunrise and Sunset. Third-party applications’ stability is optimized and improved user experience.
- GameSpace: New gaming tools box in Fnatic mode. Convenient switches of Fnatic mode. Ability to choose notification types while gaming. These include text-only, heads up and block, just for your immersive gaming experience. A new quick reply feature for Instagram and Whatsapp. This could be enabled by swiping down from the upper right/left corners of the screen, while in gaming mode. Also, a mistouch prevention feature is added.
- Ambient Display: An Always-on Ambient Display function is added in this update. It comes with the scheduled timing or an all-day option. A new Insight clock added, which changes according to the phone usage data, along with 10 new clock styles.
- Dark Mode: This mode gets the automatic turn-on feature with a customizable time range. The pull-down quick settings have a new shortcut key.
- Zen Mode: It includes a Group feature that enables the user to invite friends and enable the Zen Mode together. Also, five new themes are added with more timing options.
- Gallery: It now supports the Story feature. This automatically creates a weekly video combining your photos and videos. Faster image preview is available with optimized loading speed.
- Miscellaneous: The desktop widget may disappear but can be restored in the following manner. Long press on desktop – ‘Widget’ – ‘Settings’ – select the widget.
The new update is currently limited to fewer devices. A wider rollout will occur if no major bugs are found. For users to receive the update, the device must have at least 3GB of available storage and above 30% battery before installing it.
