Razer has amassed a lot of gamers and is going 100 million strong. The company announces a ten-year sustainability plan to protect the planet. The banner called #GoGreenWithRazer will help in the preservation of nature and protect the environment with a promise to ensure a cleaner and greener world for future generations. The new plan includes the consumption of 100% renewable energy by 2025, recycling all the products or use products with recyclable materials by 2030, and will be 100% carbon neutral by 2030, says CEO Min-Liang Tan in a statement.
As a part of the move, Razer is also planning to galvanize the community – youth, millennials, and Generation Z – to make a difference through various green initiatives. This includes recycling and awareness of its environmental footprints. Tan says that awareness around how we affect the environment is essential and this drives Razer’s plan to fight environmental and climate changes.
Building a green organization:
The gaming giant plans to eradicate single-use use plastics in all offices to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, preservation of bio-habitats, and being carbon neutral by 2030. Since reduction and renewal are not possible, Razer plans to restore them through investments in forestry and other environmental impact projects. Razer’s European office in Hamburg, Germany is already powered through renewable energy and the new upcoming Razer’s Southeast Asia headquarters in Singapore will also follow the trail. By 2025, all the global offices will be powered by 100% renewable energy.
Redesigning the green products:
The hardware forms a majority of Razer’s business and the company says it plans to reduce the environmental impact that manufacturing causes. The gamer giant ensures that all the products will be recyclable with the brand by 2025. This includes the disposal and recycling of Razer products by both customers and global distributors.
Razer encourages customers to bring back their old Razer peripherals to any RazerStore worldwide for free of cost recycling. Razer has partnered with Conservation International and has recently set a new target to rescue a million trees through the sale of Sneki Snek mascot plushies and eco-friendly merchandise. To enhance the support from the fans the gaming giant plans to announce a new piece of Sneki Snek merchandise at every 250000 trees mark. Every piece of Sneki Snek merchandise sold, they will preserve 10 trees according to the company.
