It’s been seven months into the global shift to remote work, and Slack is working on improving how people work together lately. There are better ways to collaborate than the daily video conferences. Lately, people miss the unplanned, spontaneous interactions in the office that helped make work fun.

What recent features have been updated?
The new Slack feature – Connect DMs allow collaboration with any external partner on Slack. Simply send an invitation to a collaborator and begin direct messaging once they accept it.
Verified companies will be denoted with a checkmark to qualify as trusted partners. Admins can also pre-approve channel requests with trusted organizations. This will streamline the approvals process and remove overhead for admins.
Slack is prototyping ways to sync with the team by sharing and following video updates. This happens without a schedule where Slack is exploring audio-only ways to collaborate in real-time. Meanwhile, the team is trying to avoid live video conferencing burnout.
