TikTok is one of the most burning topics in the year 2020. The TikTok app is owned by ByteDance. The app is used to create short music, lip-sync, dance, comedy, and talent videos. The duration of videos can vary between 3 to 15 seconds.
Usually, the short looping videos can vary up to 3 to 60 seconds. Recently the company faced a lot of criticism regarding its data collection policies. It has been regarded as a security threat by few countries
Why is TikTok in partnership with Shopify?
TikTok has now officially partnered with the eCommerce platform Shopify. It’s a new tactic to let brands and retailers advertise their products across the app. Advertisers could showcase their products in shoppable videos as a part of the partnership.
Previously eMarketer forecast that social commerce sales accounted for almost 12% of total sales in China. This allowed reaching $242.4 billion. This move by the company is to provide a channel for their merchants to reach new audiences. This will also drive sales on TikTok.
“As social commerce proliferates, retailers are recognizing TikTok’s creativity. The highly engaged community sets it apart from other platforms. We are constantly exploring new and innovative ways to connect brands with our users.
Shopify is the perfect partner. It’ll help us grow and expand our commerce capabilities globally”, said Blake Chandlee. According to the company’s own research, 88% of users discovered new content through the app. Half of them founded new products through ads.
On Shopify now Merchants will be able to use the TikTok for Business Ads Manager. Dashboard to run their ads. The features include “1-click” pixel conversion tracking and target audience tracking. In addition to this creative tools and $300 credit for eligible merchants.
What is #ShopBlack?
The company has also launched #ShopBlack, a branded hashtag challenge.
The challenge was to celebrate business owned by Black Entrepreneurs. The campaign will be run using custom branded effects and creator content. It will take place between 10th November-15th November.
Over 40 Shopify Merchants are already taking part in it. #ShopBlack is an incredible opportunity to reach out to new audiences as per the company. The company employs dozens of artisans in Ethiopia.
