Apple shut down all of its California stores this weekend, including those in the San Francisco Bay Area, after starting to temporarily close shops on Friday in Los Angeles. Due to COVID-19 peaks, Apple is temporarily closing all 53 of its retail stores in California and around a dozen outlets in other states.
Although some allow for pickups of orders and genius bar appointments through December 22. Apple has yet to announce about reopening the stores, so they’re going to stay closed over the holidays.
Other Locations Affected
As COVID cases in the state have continued to climb, Apple has shut down stores in California, and stores in other locations around the world are also closing down right now. There are about 100 Apple stores that are officially non-operational, according to 9to5Mac.
This weekend, Apple announced the closing of all of its shops in California and Tennessee, contributing to just over a dozen Los Angeles shop closures announced on December 18. California surpassed its record on Friday for most new cases of COVID-19 in a single day since the pandemic started.
Apple Stores that come under the updated “Tier 4” constraints of the United Kingdom are also closing effective December 20. 15 locations across London and 1 store in Wales have been affected by the tighter guidelines.
Between December 19 and 20, Apple’s two stores in both Mexico and Brazil will also close. This past week, all four locations had just switched to Express storefront service. Apple reclosed all 18 of its shops in Germany and the Netherlands earlier this past week.
