Hiro Invests $15 Million in digital sports
The company said it has led investments totaling $15 million in Snowprint Studios, Double Loop Games, and Happy Volcano Games. That’s a pretty big commitment to the three-game studios, but it’s not unusual for London-based Hiro Capital, as its focus is on investing in games, esports, digital fitness, and the metaverse (the universe of virtual worlds that are all interconnected, like in novels such as Snow Crash and Ready Player One.
The three mobile and cross-platform studios will use Hiro’s investment to expand their development pipelines and accelerate global growth. Snowprint Studios operates their debut mobile title Legend of Solgard and is now also working on an unannounced title and Rivengard, a turn-based tactics game that launched globally on January 21.
Investments Going Metaverse
Hiro Capital is looking for more ambitious entrepreneurs. It will be launching the next Dark Star event for games studios in March. Dark Star 2.0 will give game studios looking for investment the chance to hear from Hiro Capital’s partners and portfolio entrepreneurs about how and why to position themselves for venture funding.
The most powerful, fully immersive, virtual multiplayer virtual reality environment is human imagination. And the most powerful trigger of that is people talking to each other or reading to each other, or lying in bed reading a book. And right now, nothing we do in digital environments compares to the richness and interactivity of that experience as you create those imaginary worlds.
Therefore the key to the metaverse becoming compelling to people is having a strong use case. That use case is about telling, compelling, imaginative stories and characters and intellectual property in that world. And that’s going to happen in in-game environments first. And that’s why that’s a huge part of our focus.”
